On February 23, 2017, P&K Equipment hosted the Oklahoma State FFA Officer Team, as part of their Business & Industry Tour. The team visited several local businesses throughout the state, and it was an honor to be part of their tour!

The FFA Officers met with P&K General Manager, Scott Eisenhauer, and P&K Kingfisher Store Manager, Shane Clifton. They discussed the industry, P&K's business strategy, and future goals/opportunities. It was a great visit, and we wish these kids the best of luck... we look forward to watching them grow and flourish in the agricultural industry!

Autumn… it’s the most wonderful time of year, right??  We love it, because it means SeptemberFest with the Governor!  Each year, P&K participates in the fun-filled, FREE family festival (say that ten times fast)… and every year it gets better and better.  It’s a chance to see all the fun and exciting things that Oklahoma has to offer AND a chance to learn about the history and culture of our great state.

For the 2015 festivities at the Oklahoma History Center, P&K’s booth included a John Deere tractor and a round baler… and with the State Capitol in the background, it was our favorite spot for photo opportunities (we might have been a little partial).  We even had a couple of special guests stop by our booth to check things out.  Governor Mary Fallin and First Gentleman, Wade Christensen, chatted with P&K General Manager, Scott Eisenhauer, about tractors, harvest, and the equipment business.

We want to say a special thank you to the Governor for having us out there this year... we had a great time and we're looking forward to 2016!

Throughout the year, P&K is fortunate enough to have some great visitors step through our doors.  Whether it’s because people love tractors, combines, and all matters of equipment, or because their families have collected John Deere equipment for generations, everyone has a story about John Deere equipment.  And hearing these experiences is one of the coolest parts of our jobs at P&K… because we’re all a little partial to the green and yellow.

Occasionally, we get some visitors who hold a super special place in our hearts… one such visit happened recently at our Edmond store.  A group of patients from the Procure Proton Therapy Center in Oklahoma City (and their families) came out for an afternoon of tractor rides.  These kiddos were from all around the world and they were at Procure to receive state-of-the-art cancer treatment.  And in between their appointments and doctor visits, P&K was proud to provide them with a little fun in their day!

We owe a HUGE thank you to the Procure Proton Therapy Center in Oklahoma City for bringing so much fun to our P&K Edmond location for the afternoon.  We hope everyone else had as much fun as we did... we’re already looking forward to the next visit!

Dr. Jeff Edwards and his team at the OSU Department of Plant & Soil Sciences gathered performance results from a variety of small grains test plots.  We’ve compiled a few of the numbers to illustrate the effectiveness of fungicide applications… and we think you’ll agree that the results are pretty remarkable.

The Apache Wheat Varieties, when applied with fungicide, improved the yields by a range of 4 to 31 bushels.  The Lahoma Wheat Varieties improved by 9 to 31 bushels.  And the Chickasha Wheat Varieties improved by a range of 15 to 42 bushels (YES, FORTY-TWO!) when both nitrogen and fungicide were applied.

SO, taking a look at the above numbers (and the detailed numbers here)… what does this mean for you as a P&K customer??  It means that if you are ready to get serious about managing your own yields and start seeing results like this, P&K can help.  If you want to see an increase in yields, it’s time to take control and buy a self-propelled sprayer for your operation.  Our sales team at P&K are standing by and ready to help you take your operation to the next level.  When you buy a sprayer from P&K Equipment, here are a few of the benefits you can look forward to, in addition to increased yields...

With a sprayer from P&K Equipment, you’ll no longer have to rely on other sources for your time-sensitive applications of fungicides, herbicides, etc.  You can manage your own time & do the applications yourself.  Your time is valuable... and timing your applications is key to a successful harvest.  Instead of waiting on the coop to apply your fungicide when they “get done at so-and-so’s place”, manage your own time.  Put your mind at ease and do your applications yourself.

When it comes to the science behind fungicide applications, you rely on and work with your team of experts.  Your solutions, rates, and expertise are all created uniquely for YOUR operation.  So when it comes to the actual application of that science, you know better than anyone just what has to be done.  Eliminate the risk of application errors, like over/under applied fungicide rates.  With the guidance-ready systems from P&K Pinpoint you’ll be in control, and together we’ll create solutions that are specifically designed for your needs.  Do away with the hassle of miscommunications and rushed spray jobs that could be detrimental to your crop.  Take charge today… optimize your application process, and improve your yields!

Have you ever thought about going into business for yourself?  If you’re looking into a self-propelled sprayer from P&K, it might be the time to think about the possibility.  If you step into the market as a custom sprayer in your area, you can control the scale and scope of your operation and your profits and gains.  Whether you want to do your own sprayer applications and for a few neighbors and friends, or you want to open it up to entire state, it’s certainly a great way to improve your bottom line.  A John Deere sprayer creates its own investment potential.  Turn your investment into a profit today and think about the possibilities of custom spraying.

So, the moral of the story: increase your yields, manage your own time, reduce application errors, and turn your investment into a profit… all when you buy a John Deere sprayer from P&K Equipment.  We’ve got the team who can help you continually achieve your goals and create value in your sprayer applications.  From our knowledgeable sales, parts, and service staff, to the P&K Pinpoint experts, everyone is on board to help YOU.  P&K is devoted to your success and our goal is to provide you with the tools, expertise, and the know-how that you need.

If you'd like to see the complete findings from the 2015 Grain Variety Testing, gathered by OSU and Dr. Edwards' team, full reporting and results are available here

Trimmers & Brushcutters

Like all STIHL trimmers and brushcutters, the FS 110 R is designed for those who truly appreciate a well-groomed landscape. The lightweight design is comfortable to use and has the ability to take on different cutting attachments, including steel grass and brush blades.

A great choice for home, farm or professional use, using the STIHL FC 70 edger will give your landscape a manicured appearance and increase curb appeal. Edging also provides a root barrier that will help prevent invasive lawn grasses from entering flowerbeds.

Hedge Trimmers

Achieving the clean-cut look in your yard requires some work but having tidy hedges is a joy to see and totally worth it! Rather than tackling the job by hand, try using a powered hedge trimmer like the STILH HSE 70. Lightweight and easy to handle this model features a longer, 24” cutting blade which will make fast work of trimming larger bushes. Want some hedge trimming tips from STIHL? CLICK HERE

Blowers & Shredder Vacs

Leaf buildup on your lawn is not only unappealing but it can also cause grass rot and mold. Removing debris from your yard allows grass full exposure to the sun which promotes future growth. And don’t worry about creating noise for your neighbors. The BG 66 L STIHL Blower features a low-emission engine while its muffler is specially designed muffler in the blower tube and baffles make it ultra-quiet. Perfect for neighborhoods and other noise sensitive areas.

A staple in any professional landscaper or homeowner’s yard-maintenance arsenal. The MS 211 chainsaw uses a powerful low-emission, fuel-efficient engine complete with an anti-vibrating system that reduces operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience. We could get into the IntelliCarb Compensating Carburetor system and air/fuel ratios but basically what it boils down to is a lot of cutting ability and a whole lot of awesomeness.

Want more information on the STIHL products offered at P&K Equipment? Visit us during our STIHL INVENTORY OVERSTOCK SALE in Owasso, August 19th-22nd. We’ll have over 600 STIHL units available for purchase including the models mentioned above.

As of Sunday – Summer is officially here and you are prepared. You’ve got your John Deere Riding Lawn Tractor ready to go. In fact, you’ve already been out and cutting grass this year. But did you know your machine can do much more than mow?

That’s right. Versatility is built into every piece of John Deere Riding Lawn Equipment. Adding an implement like a tiller or shovel, or an attachment like a bumper or cover can easily take your machine to the next level.

With so many options to choose from, it’s hard to know where to start. So we’ve narrowed the list way down and given you our top five implements and attachments for riding lawn equipment.

  1. Mulch Kit: Convert your lawn tractor into a mulching machine and eliminate the need for bagging, raking or disposing of grass clippings. Mulching is an environmentally friendly option to getting rid of yard waste.
  2. MCS 7 (Material Collection System): Excessively long grass clippings and clumps of leaves can mat on the surface and damage your lawn. Use a material collection system to easily and efficiently remove that and other yard waste. Great for those who compost!
  3. 30in Mechanical Tiller: A real timesaver for preparing seedbeds, controlling weeds, and other tillage jobs. Takes only a few minutes to easily install or remove.
  4. Poly Utility Cart: Why carry when you can haul? This rust and dent-resistant cart features an easy dump release and a steep-angle design for complete emptying.
  5. Pull-Type Spin Spreader: Spread seed, fertilizer, insecticide and salt with this highly convenient attachment. The polyethylene hopper will not dent or rust and its large pneumatic tires and solid-steel axles ensure a positive drive.

When you decide on the implement or attachment you want – stop by your nearest P&K Equipment or give us a call! Our expert sales staff and factory-trained service and parts professionals are ready to help you get the most from your John Deere equipment!

If you're like us, you love your John Deere equipment. And when you own and run a John Deere day in and day out, there's just no substitute. It's an integral player on your team, a part of your operation, an extension of your family. And if you're like us you've probably had at least one moment that's gone something like this...

You're standing at the edge of your property, admiring a long day's work, wiping the sweat from your brow or running the dirt through your fingers, and you're watching your John Deere equipment like you'd watch your child at play. And all the while you're thinking to yourself, "Now THAT is a picture perfect moment!" We hear stories like this all the time and we've seen so many of your pictures you've brought in to show us. And with that green and yellow equipment against a backdrop of YOUR choosing, whether it's your newly mowed lawn, freshly mucked horse stalls, or waving wheat crop, we never get tired of seeing your John Deere equipment in motion.

For 2016, we decided to put together a P&K calendar, showcasing all of your favorite John Deere memories. After all, your calendar will be displayed on your wall for a whole year... wouldn't you rather have an old familiar friend staring back at you each month?? So get your cameras ready to catch those picture perfect moments and put your JOHN DEERE in MOTION... we can't wait to see all the productivity and innovation at work for YOU!

If you've already got that picture-perfect moment ready to go, click here to visit the Calendar Entry page and send it in!

If you're not necessarily an award winning photographer, but you know you've got a photo opportunity in the making, snap the photo anyway! Click here to submit it... the great news is you don't have to be a pro in order for your entry photo to win!

Submitting your photos does not guarantee that your photo will appear in the calendar. If your image is one of the twelve final images selected for the 2016 P&K Calendar, we will contact you no later than July 30, 2015. We will then arrange for a photographer to come out to your property (home, farm, ranch) and take pictures of your John Deere equipment. These are the images that will appear in the calendar.  Photos of your equipment will NOT appear in the calendar prior to P&K receiving your written consent.

If you have any further questions regarding the P&K Calendar contest, contact Erin Wheeler, P&K Advertising Coordinator, at (405)341-8081 or

Spring is in full force here in Oklahoma, and the summer months are right around the corner.  As the grass has greened up and the flowers are blooming- it’s time to start thinking about yard work, and more specifically, your lawn care.  You’ve probably already given your grass the first few cuts of the season… but as it keeps growing and you start mowing more frequently, there are a few important things to keep in mind.

  1. Make sure your mower blades are sharp and that your mower is in good operating condition. Dull blades or improperly adjusted equipment will bruise the leaf tips, reduce growth, and often cause the lawn to have a silver-tinted appearance because the edges of the grass blades will be frayed.
  2. Follow the one-thirds rule, never removing more than one-third of the grass blade in any one cutting. This will create more dense, much healthier lawn.
  3. Vary your mowing patterns throughout the season. This distributes the wear and tear on your grass, reduces soil compaction, and improves the overall health and appearance of your lawn.
  4. Ensure that each lap with the mower slightly overlaps the previous one, so that the tires don’t go along the same path each time. This will help further prevent ruts in the grass.
  5. Mow slopes and shady areas one setting higher than the rest of the lawn. Because shady areas are protected (and not able to absorb normal amounts of nutrients from moisture and sunlight), and because sloped areas tend to dry faster (and thus also have trouble absorbing nutrients), these areas need to be mowed at a slightly higher setting.  This will leave more surface area on the blades of grass, thereby allowing for more nutrient absorption.
  6. At the end of a lap, make turns on sidewalks and driveways whenever possible. And when space doesn’t allow for it, simply make wider turns as opposed to tighter ones.  Again, this will alleviate any extra wear and tear on your grass, and will prevent ruts.
  7. Avoid mowing wet grass whenever possible. Wet leaf blades clump together both underneath the mower deck and on the lawn itself.  When that happens, it makes it more difficult to obtain an even, quality cut.  But we all know mowing conditions in Oklahoma are not always ideal and we’ll take the rain/moisture when we can get it!  So if you must mow in wet/damp grass, here are a few helpful hints:
    1. Drag a hose across the grass before mowing. This will have a squeegee effect and will eliminate some of the rain or dew.
    2. Raise the mowing height.
    3. Slow down the mower speed (not the blade).
    4. Empty the bagger more often.

When applied to your lawn care practices, these simple tips will make for a productive mowing season and they’ll ensure the health of your lawn for seasons to come.  Of course, if you have any questions about your mower, the blades, and what will work best on your property, you can always give us a call at P&K.  We’re proud to be your local John Deere experts, providing you with all of your lawn and garden solutions!
